Each pillow begins with washing and cutting fabric. The next steps include tannin and mordant baths and then dyeing the fabric a base color. For the first layer of pattern, I use plant dyes, incorporating a clamp-resist (shibori) technique. Then, after the fabric dries, I machine sew and insert a zipper closure. For the final layer of surface design, I hand stitch to finish.
